I love fingerless gloves. They really do pull a set of accessories together. They add a touch of warmth, without being super bulky and awkward. I live in a particularly cold climate, so I like to wear my fingerless gloves over a pair of small, stretchy, knit gloves. They keep my hands just toasty enough for a trip from the house to the car.

The Ever-Changing Cowl turned out to be so thick and squishy, that I knew the stitch pattern would make wonderful gloves. The lovely texture and lofty yarn, make these gloves a pleasure to touch and wear.

I have added many pictures to help you along the way.

Instructions

Band

With 6mm Hook (or the hook used to obtain gauge)

Begin with a long tail, as you will be using it to sew the ends on the band shut.

1. Ch6. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Turn.   – 5 st

2. Working in the 3rd LO: Ch1. Hdc in 1st st and each st across. Turn.   – 5 st

Repeat row 2 until you have a total of 14 (16, 18) rows. Ss into the end of your 1st row to join. (See figure 1) You will be working your 1st row of the body of your glove into the side of your hat band. (See figure 2)

From here, this pattern is worked in the round, but you will be turning after each round is completed. To make this pattern easier to work, beginning at row 2, you will be starting each round in the 2nd stitch (unless stated otherwise). This is the stitch immediately to the left of where you placed your slip stitch in the previous row. If you look at figure 3 below, you will see that I have ch1 and worked my 1st hdc into the next st. When you do this, you must remember that the stitch where you placed your slip stitch in the previous row, is where you will place your last stitch. (See figure 4)

(See figure 5) When done properly, the seam should be almost invisible when you turn your glove right side out. (See figure 6)
