So this is embarrassing… I had intended to add this pattern to my blog a year ago, when I first launched it. I had added all of my other previously written patterns, and this one was the last one, but I put if off. I think I had planned to write a hat and gloves patterns to go with it, but I never did. Oh well. It’s here now, and that’s what counts, right? 😉

I have to admit. Winter is not my favourite season. It gets really cold here, in Manitoba. Like, skin freezing in minutes, why do I even live here kind of cold. So, to make it a little more bearable I curl up on the couch and create. My goal is to make beautiful accessories that compliment my parka and boots, but will also keep me toasty warm. One of my favourite things to design are beautiful and unique crochet scarf patterns for beginners.

This keyhole scarf just kind of fell out of my head, onto my hook. I wanted to make a unique scarf with lots of yummy texture and not too many holes so it would keep in all the warmth. I love the way it’s woven into itself to give it  a lovely wavy look. It reminds me that beach weather will return someday.

As an added bonus, this pattern is easy to modify into a light spring shawl. Just use light weight yarn (like fingering or dk) and a smaller hook. Keep repeating the rows until you achieve the length you want!

I hope you enjoy making this scarf as much as I did.

Creating The Look

Now you can take the pointed end and weave it in and out of the holes you created in the flat end. Once you have the look you want, tie a knot to secure it.
